"i have make a sex in my life"

Fitness:
Just went running. My calves really hurt this time around. I'm going to blame it on a lack of sleep and hydration. However, I'm working to remedy both those things so this doesn't happen again. Calf cramps are super lame (literally).
I've decided go back to point system diet again. I had gotten a little too lax about what I was eating and I just wasn't losing any weight. It's a satisfying feeling to know that I can make myself change, control myself. It just takes a little sweating and a lot of restraint. And hell, I can do it.

Art:
I got my 2 t-shirt designs ordered from Zazzle. I've never used them before, so I really hope they are prompt and don't suck. Fingers crossed, man.

I went to Staples today with Erika and bought a mini stapler and sticker paper. As Nolan pointed out, it's fitting that I bought a stapler from Staples, eh? The sticker paper will come in handy very shortly for a number of reasons. You'll see....

I might finalize the drawing of the government worker and the failed teen driver (see previous post) tonight. I've got several slight changes in mind and I plan on adding in a background. That's due Wednesday.

Other News:
I watched the most recent episode of The Office yesterday. I got all smiley inside when Jim proposed at that gas station. I am such a girl. ha!

Oh, yeah. I followed a link on Matthew Woodson's blog that took me to this myspace page and... apparently... he sings? he sounds all raspy and completely different than the voice I had set for him in my mind. But I can't say I don't dig it. The female singer sings beautifully. I love her voice.

I believe this is an Oryx. This is actually an oldish drawing I made after visiting an Outdoor Sportsman's Warehouse where there was a lot of taxidermy on display. There was a full moose and many geese! There was a bear, fox, catfish, bobcat, and countless deer. Very fascinating. They let me wander around and take pictures, but that might only have been because it was opening week and they were focused on other things.

oh, i forgot...

This is for a voting campaign i am working on in my Brands and Branding class. it might end up not being a very good solution to my problem, but i like the illustration nonetheless.

This is an idea sketch of a drawing i want to do for my Imaging from Culture class. We were supposed to something (anything, really) relating to "coming of age rituals". I decided to focus on the feat of attaining a driver's license. Most people have driver's licenses and pretty much ALL of those people have some harrowing tale to accompany their accomplishment. Basically, i am in love with illustrating, so i've chosen to do every possible assignment in that manner (within the bounds of reason). I plan on collecting stories from people about their driver's test and the entire ordeal. Once those tales are gathered, i may illustrate them as spots in a theoretical magazine. This piece above would probably be the art immediately before a relating article.

portfolio building! YEAH!

This is a collagey card i made for a friend over the summer to thank her for taking care of me when i broke my eye socket. inside the card, it says in giant letters: "WHAT ARE THE ODDS?"
i thought it was rather fitting and amusing considering what happened, so i figured i'd post it on here! because... i mean.... what are the odds?

told you so

I was serious when i said i'd be posting some art on here soon. I plan on being more prompt with documenting my work in the future.

This is a stellated octahedron. I learned how to fold it in middle school math class. I've started folding them and turning them into ornaments. I made many of these last winter as small gifts. I like making them. This particular green/gold one is made using all one type of wrapping paper. However, i've made others with variegated papers and they're super neat. I gave all those ones away, but i plan on folding up some multicolored ones as soon as i have some time. Each ornament takes 12 separate pieces of folded paper.

This is just to give you a sense of the scale. This is the largest ornament i make. I've also been known to fold up itty bitty ones. they're more taxing on the fingertips, but they're about as cute as paper can get.

This is a book cover i made for last semester's Photo Imaging class. I just never got around to posting it. I'm pleased with how it came out. The back cover consists of another photograph taken from the inside of the plane, looking out.

This is a very recent illustration i made for my Imaging from Culture class. It has to do with tattoos and their role in history and the development of cultures. I might add another whole panel with more tattooed people on it. I had a lot of fun with this. Below is a close up of my Polynesian man.

Stellated Octahedron

For those of you who look at this blog hoping to see new art, i apologize. It has fallen to ruin as a portfolio blog. But don't worry, i'll get around to documenting my recent work pretty soon and it'll be way better.

yeah.

Today was cool. We went to the Walter's Museum for my history of illustration class this morning. But it was far greater than your usual trip to the Walter's. I got taken (with a group of other classmates) into some secret place. There, we were shown incredible manuscripts (like the Koran and several versions of the Book of Hours). It was really enlightening.... har har.

Then I hung out with the Erik and got lots of fruit juice with him. It turned out to be a much better day than i had been expecting.

i also opted not to go to the screenprinting thing at 3 for several reasons.
1) i didn't even get back from the Walter's until 4:30
2) i didn't have my design laid out in a way that could be screenprinted because i dont fully know how to go about that.
3) i would have had to get erika and borrow her screen.
4) if i had to do one more school-related activity this week, i was going to have some sort of stroke.

it's been pouring rain for most of the day. i am very wet and sticky. it's not good.

highly eventful!

i had class on saturday! aside from my immediate impulse to cringe/wince at the thought of devoting even one more day to class, it was actually very fun, educational, and incredibly worth my while. we had a screen printing demo for my Brands and Branding class. i have finally learned what the hell people are talking about when they talk in screen printing jargon. After 3 years at this school, i have finally set foot in the Dolphin building (and it was glorious!).

after that, i did a lot of other stuff. but the highlights included driving to Giant, standing in line for 25 minutes to check out, then making a MASSIVE fruit salad upon returning home. oh, and i went to a pleasant dinner party at the M/D abode.

i ate too many apples and now i have heartburn because of it. and then i almost fell asleep, but then i didn't!

things i want to do:
hug my mom, poke my brother in his stomach, watch Tremors, eat some cheesecake, stop stressing out about the amount of homework i have, finally finish with the project from hell.

oh yeah. i've got a great idea for a thing involving board, apoxy, dinos, and gesso.

a change in priorities

I've been running pretty regularly these days. Tonight was great. I didn't even hack up a lung afterwards! I checked the mileage in my car. It's a puny 1.5 mile route, but i'll probably increase that as I get better.

Anywho... today has been somewhat chill. A friend gave me a brief tour of the Senior Illustration studios. It was neat seeing where they all work, but also a bit saddening because i'm not there with them. I love illustrating, but... i just wanted to learn knew things.

The Kentucky gov. is mailing me an absentee ballot application (let's see how that pans out)
I was an idiot and washed my favorite bright/white clothes with a lot of darkwash jeans
I still need to finish the Helpin stuff
and I may be turning into a health freak.

calves of steel!

I didn't sleep on wednesday night. I just stayed up doing work and removing nailpolish.
Then, today, i had endless class. all about voting campaigns and whatnot. i didnt get out until 10:10 pm! ugh. then i got home and decided to go running. i do not know why i had energy considering i hadn't gotten any sleep the night before. but it was the BEST friggin' run ever. I flew. My lungs worked, my legs worked, my fists were wrapped around my keys and mace. And i got to see a guy getting handcuffed and yelled at by some cops right as i was walking toward my house.

I'm gonna try and see how many miles the loop i ran was. maybe 1.5? i dunno, but i'm going to stick with it.

yay, health!
